    Extracting what? The torrent has the actual folder(s) which aren't archived. Do you mean PlayOnLinux? Use sudo with your package manager (apt-get) from the console to install. Avoid running console (bash, csh etc) as root as much as possible. This guide should work fine for your distribution, Ubuntu is built from a Debian base.
