Game wont save settings

17 posts in this topic

Has  anyone ever had an issue where the game won't save system settings? I've tried running as admin without success and it's annoying to redo all the graphics sounds settings every time. Oddly enough addon settings are fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Look up if your WTF folder has a writing protection. If you are leaving WoW via Alt + F4 the game also won't save any settings set up.

Ok so this is whats happening:

On exit WoW writes the settings to save to

...\WoW 7.1.5\WTF\Firestorm.wtf

But on start reads them from

...\WoW 7.1.5\Firestorm.wtf

So you have to manualy copy the file over that to save the config....

Oh dude I was about to say you're da MVP but as he said, you are the prophet.

I've had this issue only since I play Legion but it's been months. Thank you so much, it was so simple...

You can also move your Firestorm.wtf from the main game folder to the WTF folder. If there is no WoWFolder\Firestorm.wtf,  then the client will load WTF\Firestorm.wtf
This way you don't have to copy your settings every time you make a change.

In case you don't have Firestom.wtf in your main folder, then it's possible WTF\Firestorm.wtf is readonly. Select it, press Alt-Enter, remove readonly flag.
