Arms T16 2-piece Rotation

2 posts in this topic

We're very close to the possibility of having the warrior 2-piece bonus from SoO gear. As a warrior, you should know how this changes Arms' single-target rotation significantly. This video explains it all but I'm going to expand on that with math. There are two requirements that need to be met to have this rotation beat the normal Arms rotation (Slams in Colossus Smash):

  • T16 2p bonus (The 2p gives 5 rage per special attack used on targets with your Colossus Smash debuff up.)
  • Geared for Fury (which you should be if you're PvEing since Arms isn't that great for PvE anymore)

The best rotation then shifts from Slams to Overpowers and Heroic Strikes in Colossus Smash. The video shows the rotation so let's compare them.

Slam

3 Slams and one Mortal Strike. Slam does 302.5% weapon damage in Colossus Smash and Mortal Strike does 2.15% plus a little damage. This sums up to a total of 1125% + 13590 damage. In total, the net rage from this rotation is about -45 rage [(25-5)*3-(10+5)].

Overpower + Heroic Strike

Overpower's special mechanics allow the use of four of them and a Mortal Strike in Colossus Smash; we will also use two Heroic Strikes to dump rage. Overpower also has a 100% chance to crit by the time you get your 2p. The total weapon damage is 1275% + 4407 damage. The net rage is -55 rage [(10-5)*4+(30-5)*2-(10+5)]. A little more costly for a little more damage. Who knew Overpower would be expensive.

In general, the numbers are really close. However, the new rotation has a slight advantage. The rotation itself does a little more damage and more importantly it triggers more Strikes of Opportunity (mastery). This in turn also causes more Colossus Smash procs from Sudden Death (chance to reset cooldown from autoattacks and mastery attacks).
